CRITICAL REVIEW


    Architect and engineer, restoration architect, and professor at the School of Architecture (1898-1934). He was an advocate of Neo-Romanian style who stood out as a prominent figure in introducing and using this particular style in building design. (Sidonia Teodorescu, 2015)

    Academic /specialized studies:
    ? - He studied at the School of Bridges and Roads in Bucharest;
    November 26, 1892 - August 3, 1888 - School of Fine Arts/École des Beaux-Arts, student of the professor-architect Julien Guadet, 2nd grade, Paris, France.

    Teaching:
    1898-1934 -  Professor at the School of Architecture in Bucharest.

    Other relevant information:
    Father of architect Robet Mihăescu (1895-1970).

    Architectural projects:
    ? - Palace of the Ministry of Culture and Arts (now, the Ministry of Education and Research), 28-30 G-ral Berthelot Street, Bucharest;
    1905 - ”Maria Mihăescu” (Miţa the Biker) House, located on 7 Biserica Amzei Street, Bucharest (eclectic building, Beaux-Arts style, with Art Nouveau influences);
    1906 - Reconstruction of Hurezi Monastery in Valcea County and of a boyar fortified house, reproducing the boyar fortified house of the Greceanu family in the same county, a project designed for the General National Exhibition Romania, on Câmpul Filaretului(now Carol Park), together with architect Victor Stefanescu;
    1908-1911 - Bradu-Boteanu Church, 8 Boteanu Street, Bucharest;
    1909 -1912 (opening) - Palace of the Holy Synod of the Antim Monastery in Bucharest, on the north side of the church, on the site previously accommodating the old huts, demolished before 1840;
    1910 - „Sf. Nicolae şi Alexandru” Orthodox Cathedral, Sulina (Neo-Romanian style);
    ? - The Palace of the Society of Civil Servants, in Piata Victoriei in Bucharest, a project designed in collaboration with arch. Alexander Clavel (1877-1916) (now extinct);
    ? - The Court and Commercial School of Târgovişte;
    ? - The Court of Giurgiu;
    ? - The Cathedral in Drăgăşani;
    ? - Stoenescu House, Blvd. Lascăr Catargiu, intersecting Grigore Alexandrescu Street, together with arch. Alexandru Clavel.

    Restoration projects:
    He is known for coordinating the restoration of historical monuments, such as Agapia, Văratec, Neamţ, Hurezi, Căldăruşani.
